If you’re a super sleuth, you can guess by today’s opening imagery where I am… that’s right, in the land of lobster, blueberries, and L.L. Bean boots. This is not my usual summer Maine vacay though, but a quick trip for the weekend for my nephew’s high school graduation. I have 8 meals in Maine and hope to have lobster at as many of them as possible! (“She’s a maniac, a maniac, I know…”)

This Week’s Must Read/Watch: Why Conservatives Are Speaking Up About Solar (SEIA)
In this interview the SEIA podcast Good Energy had with Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions CEO Heather Reams about solar energy, she explains “energy is needed desperately and that’s not a red or blue issue, that’s a red, white, and blue issue.” Solar has “always ranked highest” of the renewable energy sources, she notes. “Solar is so accessible. No one is going to have a nuclear facility in private. ownership but they can certain do that with solar.”
You know we will be requesting our annual podcast appearance by Heather in advance of the National Clean Energy Week 2026!
We have to work together, for the benefit of us all!
In this episode, an old favorite returns to cover the latest and greatest in clean energy and climate policy.
Former Congressman Carlos Curbelo was first elected to Congress in 2014, serving on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the Education and Workforce Committee, the Small Business Committee, as well as the Committee on Ways and Means, where he co-authored the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017. While in Congress, he was a key leader on climate policy and also co-founded and co-chaired the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus.
He worked tirelessly in Congress to bridge the gap between Republicans and Democrats on climate change—and continues the charge today as the head of Vocero, the communications and strategic consulting firm he founded.
We talk about the impacts of geopolitical conflict on energy prices and the need to bridge our differences so that we can realize a prosperous, energy-abundant nation.
Coming up next week, can you believe that we are at the end of season 12? Well, we are, so that means it’s time for our Best of Season 12 recap episode, featuring a special appearance by our own Angela Larck. She loves the wrap up segment and now she will be focal to the wrap up segment.
We are currently at work on the season 13 line up so if you have a recommendation, hit me up!
Geothermal boom
This week, the House of Representatives passed by voice vote the Geothermal Energy Advancement Act, a package of bills relating to my latest obsession, geothermal energy.
“Ultimately all of these bills will bring more energy online faster, increase our strategic national security by lessening our dependence on foreign adversarial nations, and most importantly, lower costs for the American people,” noted Rep. Pete Stauber (R-Minn.), the chair of the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources.
The bill was championed by Republican Rep. Jeff Hurd and Democrat Rep. Susie Lee in a rare demonstration of bipartisan energy cooperation.
“There are few energy technologies that draw this level of bipartisan support, but geothermal energy is a reliable domestic resource with enormous potential to fuel our nation’s electricity needs,” said Rich Powell, CEO of the Corporate Energy Buyers Association, a trade group that advocates for a carbon-free energy system. (If Rich’s name sounds familiar it’s because his name has appeared in these pages from his days at ClearPath.)
If you missed our podcast episode on geothermal, you must go back and listen and if you want to know more about the specific bills included in the package, check out this Canary Media article!
