This weekend, I’m carving out time with friends and maybe a pumpkin or two, but let me tell you, I’m the worst at carving pumpkins. When they were children, my sons quickly eclipsed me in creativity when it comes to pumpkins. I suppose my talents are focused elsewhere. I suppose my talents are focused elsewhere. Like here. Writing. Updating you on the latest and greatest!
This week’s must read: Curtis tells climate summit he’s still working on winning over GOP (Utah News Dispatch)
At the fourth annual Conservative Climate Summit, a meeting hosted by now-Senator John Curtis from Utah, more than 600 attendees convened to talk about climate and clean energy.
From the article:
Some Republicans in Congress have shifted away from focusing on climate change, but Curtis said he’s still winning over support from those in his party who attend the yearly event.
“Some of them come, and they fold their arms like that, and they’re very suspicious. And then by the end of the day, they go, ‘I get it,’” he said, “and they realize that it’s been a mistake for Republicans to not be engaged, because we do, we care deeply about the Earth.”
Check out the photo below from our team at the event.
Quote of the week:
“You don’t have to love climate policy to love cheaper energy and American jobs. We can win this on free-market principles.” — Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions head Heather Reams, about the Curtis climate summit and the status of clean energy in the U.S.

Coming up next week, my conversation with Aaron Viles, the senior director of campaigns for the Electrification Coalition, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that works to accelerate the widespread adoption of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty electric vehicles to overcome the economic, public health, and national security challenges that have long stemmed from America’s dependence on oil. Bob had the pleasure of meeting one of their reps at an event in the late summer and was impressed with their work!

Heather White is literally one of my favorite people. We met in the 90s (or as my kids would say, in the last century) when we were both young Senate staffers. Aside from trying to make the world a better both, we had our babies around the same time, both worked at the National Wildlife Federation, share a love of funky eyewear, and published books.
She can become one of your favorite people too if you register and attend our last webinar of the year.
When: November 13th, 6pmET

Why: Because Heather rocks!
ICYMI: The White House Effect
I was so honored to moderate a panel post screening of the film The White House Effect, which will premiere on Netflix on October 31, for those who want to see it. (I highly recommend it.) Joined by climate journalists Justin Worland from TIME and Jenny Hijazi from Bloomberg Law, we covered complicated topics like how to penetrate disinformation on climate science and effectively communicating climate change. Thanks to Uproot Project and the DC Environmental Film Festival for the opportunity!
That’s it for me! Good luck carving your pumpkins!
