Happy Vacation Eve from me!

Readers, I’m doing something I don’t often do or ever do, really. I’m taking two full weeks off from work. And what am I going to do in that time, I hear you ask? Well, first, I’m going to play tour guide in D.C. for my friend visiting from the U.K. After a few days of immersing ourselves in all that is the nation’s capital, we are heading to the Smoky Mountains. Yes, I know. It’s the busiest time to go. But I have never seen them so we will spend some time hiking and exploring that area before moving along to Kentucky, where we plan to hit up some bourbon distilleries. Back to D.C. via West Virginia!

What does this mean for you? It means that there is no Week En Review next week. I will send out a brief 4th of July edition, so keep your eyes open for that.

EcoRight Speaks… coming soon… the season finale

Due to a scheduling conflict, we are skipping this week’s promised episode and spending our time finessing the “best of season ten” episode, which highlights all the best clips spanning our 15 guests. This is a great episode to catch if you missed one of our full episodes or just to catch our vibe!

Once I’m back from vacation, I will be working hard on getting season 11 out of the gate. (And I promise, you will hear from Mary Anna Mancuso next season.) If you or someone you know would make a great guest, feel free to reach out!

EcoRight Poll: What gives you hope for climate progress?

Penny for your thoughts?

Take less than one minute out of your day to share what gives you hope for making climate progress in the future by answering Angela Larck’s three thoughtful questions.

The more we share, we can fuel each other’s sense of hope. In that spirit, I can give you a preview of what most gives me hope: the promise of innovation.

After you take the poll, if you want to share your answer, I’d love to hear it.

Climate Change In The American Mind

The George Mason Center for Climate Change Communication and Yale Program on Climate Change Communication released this updated research on attitudes on policy and politics, with some interesting outcomes.

At the very least, check out the executive summary—but here are some highlights:

  • 79% of registered voters oppose ordering all federal agencies to stop doing research on global warming.
  • 78% oppose ordering all federal agencies to stop providing information about global warming to the public.
  • 75% oppose eliminating the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
  • 63% oppose prohibiting construction of new offshore wind farms.

Interestingly, most of those polled had not heard of the Foreign Pollution Fee Act (Senator Bill Cassidy’s bill) but once hearing what the bill does (assessing a fee on the imports of products produced outside of the U.S. that don’t meet our same clean production standards) 81% said they supported the concept.

The homework: more people need to know about a foreigh pollution fee!

And your other homework… have a great weekend!
