CLIMATE COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

Suler Lu serves as republicEn’s Climate Communications Intern. This summer, she is joining the team after completing an action group project for a Global Environmental Politics course at the University of Washington. As the student liaison representing the student group of four, along with the mentorship of Angela Larck, the quarter-long project crafted the republicEn monthly poll and poll report, along with all communications and graphics for April 2024. Additionally, for this project, Suler wrote an op-ed highlighting the capabilities and benefits of climate policy in improving American rangeland management.

Suler is a rising second-year student at the University of Washington in Seattle pursuing a double bachelor of arts degree in public/global health and environmental studies. Her career goal is to involve people in action and advocacy, specifically in improving public health related to the natural environment. This summer, she hopes her project will support republicEn’s focus on building public understanding of climate challenges and solutions through digital communication strategies such as growing the organization’s public online presence on social media platforms and other resources, including a Wikipedia page.

Suler is originally from Westchester, New York, but grew up in Maryland, where she first gained an early appreciation for East Coast watershed ecosystems. So, the unparalleled mountain ranges and towering forests of Washington and the West Coast have only recently become her new home.
