Hello and happy end of 2024. We know… the year has 11 more days to work its magic. But given the number of out of office replies I have been getting this week, I think many of you/us are checked/checking out and getting ready to get our holiday on.
I thought it would be fun to recap the EcoRight in 2024, so here we go, starting with some fun stats.
In 2024, we:
- Hosted or were invited to attend/participate in over 100 events across the country
- Published 90 op-eds
- Released 34 podcast episodes
- Sent 12 EcoRight polls to our members
- Hosted 4 webinars
There were some big milestones in 2024 that numbers just don’t capture, so keep reading…
December highlight: 175th episode of the EcoRight Speaks
Have you caught our Best of Season 9 episode yet? While doing some podcast housekeeping, I realized this was our 175th episode ever! I was particularly proud of this season and the calibre of guests. Not to mention, people are asking to be on the show, which makes us proud!
Also, we were happy to see Senators Bill Cassidy and Lindsey Graham float a discussion draft for the Foreign Pollution Act, which they will introduce next year. YOU can help build momentum for this bill by sending a letter to YOUR senator asking them to check the bill out.
November highlight: Rep. John Curtis elected to the Senate
We look forward to seeing what the founder of the House Conservative Climate Caucus and the man responsible for making the term climate change less stigmatized to conservatives does as a U.S. Senator. We wish him luck and look forward to working with him.
October highlight: Curtis Conservative Climate Summit
Bob Inglis attended the Curtis Conservative Climate Summit in Utah, the annual gathering of right-of-center climate stakeholders. Here’s Bob in his own words talking about the experience.
September highlight: CCL Third Coast Regional Conference
I was thrilled to be invited to speak as a keynoter and serve on a panel at CCL’s Third Coast Regional Conference in Galveston, Texas, where I met in person, after so many years of partnering, some of the most esteemed members of the CCL Conservative Caucus, including our members Larry Howe and Larry Linenschmidt. It was an informative program and I found it energizing to be around so many passionate climate thinkers.
Also, congratulations to Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions on another successful National Clean Energy Week and to our friends at the Climate Leadership Council for their latest research, Prioritizing American Interests: A New Strategy for Global Decarbonization.
August highlight: I’m a published author
I mean, how could I not include the publication of Glacial: The Inside Story of Climate Politics as a highlight of the year, I mean, my life. The culmination of more than a year of research and writing, plus a career of being in and around the key conversations on climate policy, Glacial gives a behind-the-scenes look on just how hard it is to enact federal policy… get yourself a copy today!
July highlight: World’s Hottest Day
Okay, maybe this isn’t one to be super jazzed about but July 22, 2024 was the world’s hottest day, snatching the record from July 21, 2024. The climate is warming and we can do something about it if we work together.
Also, we wrapped up Season 8 of the EcoRight Speaks. You can catch our round up episode here.
June highlight: The Hoosier State
While on an EnCourage Tour stop in Indiana, Bob caught up with some legendary EcoRighters, including the smart and savvy Sarah Beth Aubrey and our old friends, Kacey Crane and the former Mayor of Carmel, Jim Brainard. Indiana is a very important state to our cause and we are lucky to have such a deep well of connections and friends on the EcoRight working to spread the message and build a groundswell of support for free market climate action.
May highlight: The Sunshine State
In May, Bob headed to Florida, where he participated in a number of events organized by our stellar consultant, KC Ingram (also a guest on the show this year and the host of her own show).
April highlight: Chelsea and Angela meet in person
For our decentralized team, in person meetings are a rarity. So when our hardworking Engagement Director Angela Larck told me she was planning to visit Baltimore for the weekend, we knew we had to get together in person! Fun fact: we ordered the exact same thing at lunch.
Also, I’m not the only EcoRight author… congrats to our friend Benji Backer for release of his book in April, The Conservative Environmentalist: Common Sense Solutions for a Sustainable Future.
March highlight: Happy Anniversary to ClearPath
Our friends at ClearPath marked 10 years of advocating for clean energy policy and we applaud their accomplishments. Here’s to the next decade of progress!
February highlight: Go, Fight, Win
We host quarterly webinars, and our 1st quarter webinar, featuring our own Bob Inglis talking about the path to victory on climate action, was the best attended webinar we have ever held. If you missed it, you can catch it here.
January highlight: Our prolific writer starts strong
In one of the more than 50 op-eds she had published in 2024, our dear Mary Anna Mancuso started the year off strong with Putting the conserve in conservative(The Invading Sea).
Here she wrote about setting personal conservation goals.
“Supporting sustainable businesses promotes eco-friendly practices and sends a clear message that sustainability is a priority for consumers. In turn this creates a demand for climate-friendly businesses and products, fostering a broader shift toward a sustainable economy,” she writes. “Together, we can drive positive change in the market and reduce emissions. As we head further into 2024, let’s make it a year of meaningful action, where small changes collectively lead to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.”
Speaking of January…
Don’t forget to RSVP for our January 8, 2025 night of trivia and virtual mingling! This is a limited-ticket event, so be sure to sign up here. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!
