Rep. John Katko (R-NY-24) became the latest cosponsor of a climate change resolution spearheaded by fellow New Yorker and GOP Congressman Chris Gibson. The so-called “Gibson Resolution” states that the U.S. House of Representatives will “create and support economically viable, and broadly supported private and public solutions to study and address the causes and effects of measured changes to our global and regional climates, including mitigation efforts and efforts to balance human activities that have been found to have an impact.” The resolution has little chance of passing through the committee of jurisdiction or receiving a vote by the House.

Katko, who acknowledges the role human activity has in climate change, is the 13th Republican to add his name to the measure.
