Hey, the cupid tells me that today is a special day. Will you be our EcoRight Valentine? Send a shout out over email or social media (think of it as a love letter) to a lawmaker doing good things on climate change and/or praise a member of your community whom you admire.
This week’s must read: Forget saving the planet. Clean energy interests sharpen a different message: money and jobs (Associated Press… and everywhere)
This article is making the rounds… it’s been syndicated in so many publications that I’d be surprised if you haven’t seen it yet. But just ICYMI, here is a highlight featuring Bob Inglis.
The clean energy economy is “a very winning message for outreach to conservatives because it’s really true,” said former U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis, a South Carolina Republican who founded the conservative climate group RepublicEN.org. “If we play our cards right and lead the world to this, we can create a lot of wealth, create a lot of jobs here in America.”

This week we sat in conversation with the Reverend Mitch Hescox, a leader in Creation Care , the president emeritus and former CEO of the Evangelical Environmental Network. He’s also an avid fan of carbon pricing, which we get into in the show.
He is the author of multiple books including Caring for Creation: The Evangelical Guide To Climate Change and a Healthy Environment, which he co-authored with nationally known meteorologist Paul Douglas. He has testified before Congress, spoke at the White House, presented at the Vatican, and The Council for Foreign Relations, as well as appearing on several cable news and radio programs.
Coming up next week, my conversation with author Mike Conley, a nuclear power advocate who recently wrote the book, Earth is a Nuclear Planet.
Climate change in the American Mind: Beliefs and Attitudes
The latest and greatest research from the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and the George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication shows that:
- Americans who think global warming is happening outnumber those who think it is not happening by a ratio of more than 5 to 1 (73% versus 14%).
- 60% of Americans understand that global warming is mostly human-caused. By contrast, 28% think it is caused mostly by natural changes in the environment.
- 57% of Americans understand that most scientists think global warming is happening. By contrast, 21% think there is a lot of disagreement among scientists about whether it is happening.
