Beware of the Ides of November. Okay, literally no one says this, but why is it that the Ides of March were foreboding and no other month suffers the same indignity? It’s this burning question and thinking about the climate work ahead that keep me up at night.
This week’s must read: As a conservative climate activist, here’s what I’d want the Trump administration to do (The Cool Down)
From Benji Backer, founder of American Conservation Coalition, comes this piece about how to make a difference with the Trump administration in 2025. “I believe that starts with an America-centric message focused on producing more energy in America from all sources. Energy independence is important to Trump — and the reality is, it’s not possible if we only focus on a single energy source,” he writes. “So if that independence is important to him, he should be more pro-mining in the U.S. for everything — including solar and batteries.”
EcoRight Speaks, Season 9, Episode 13: Alex Flint
Welcome back to the podcast to our friend, Alex Flint, who runs the show at the EcoRight group Alliance for Market Solutions. A veteran of both the legislative and executive branches, he is on the show to provide his outlook for the year ahead…
…And it isn’t all bad. Tune in to find out what he has to say through the link below.
Coming up next week, in a variation on a theme, tune in for my conversation with journalist Emma Dumain, climate beat reporter for E&E Daily, to talk about what she’s hearing for the 2025 Congressional agenda.
A new must listen: Energy 360
Check out this new podcast, Energy 360, from two friends of ours, EcoRighter Quill Robinson and national security climate change expert Joseph Majkut. Both hosts have been guests on our show and long time climate experts.
In this episode, The Transition: Build, Baby, Build, they discuss the energy policy outlook for the Trump administration with Tim Puko, Emily Domenech, and Dave Banks.
From Mary Anna’s corner: Waiting for the federal government to solve the climate crisis is no longer an option
Published again in The Invading Sea, Mary Anna has this to say:
“It’s not all doom and gloom for those of us in the climate change space. In fact, there is an opportunity to move away from waiting for the federal government to solve the ongoing climate crisis. It’s time we shift our attention to the private sector for climate solutions. Over the next four years, American businesses must play a critical role in climate action.”
