Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), the first declared candidate for the presidency, was interviewed by Yahoo global news anchor Katie Couric today. In the interview, Cruz said “we should follow the evidence and the science and the data” when asked his views on climate change. “The problem with this debate,” Cruz added. “Is it is driven principally by people with partisan agendas in Washington that are disconnected with the science and the data.” When asked his opinion on Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment and human ecology, Cruz responded, “I respect the Pope a great deal… in the world of public policy, I think we should follow the facts and the data.”
