Florida GOP Rep. Carlos Curbelo, cochair of the bipartisan House Climate Solutions Caucus, hosted an event this week on the global security threats posed by climate change. The event featured a presentation by Retired British Admiral Neil Morisetti, who served as the U.K. foreign secretary’s special representative for climate change.

“Learning the methods other countries implement to handle climate change makes us more effective leaders,” Curbelo noted. “I look forward to discussing [Morisetti’s] views with my colleagues.”

The caucus, which was founded in February of this year, has 16 members, eight of them Republican. The mission of the caucus is to “serve as an organization to educate members on economically-viable options to reduce climate risk and protect our nation’s economy, security, infrastructure, agriculture, water supply and public safety.”
