Iowa college student Kelsi Wolever attended the Growth and Opportunity Party in Des Moines last weekend, where she dared to ask Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal if free enterprise can solve climate change.

“Sure,” Jindal said. “I think you can have a strong economy, I think you can have affordable energy and a clean environment. I don’t think they are mutually exclusive.” Jindal went on to credit the “fracking revolution” for recent reductions in U.S. carbon dioxide emissions.

“That happened because of American entrepreneurial innovation,” he said.
