It’s so weird that typically federal holidays fall on a Monday (yay three-day weekend) but in the last two weeks, we’ve had two fall on Friday. While these are still three-day weekends, they hit differently. Anyway, assuming you are all tuning out tomorrow, Week En Review is once again coming to you on Thursday.

Are those of you sweating it out in the heat dome (like I am) planning on any fireworks or parades? Or is it all indoor activities with AC on full blast?

What ever your plans, I hope you are staying cool and hydrated!

This week’s must read: The Declaration of Independence!

When was the last time you read this foundational document? Was it, perhaps, ninth grade government class? I just read an article about how messy the process of writing it was and somehow it made the Founding Fathers feel more human. They bickered! Just like we do today!

Fun fact: my ninth grade government class history teacher had the Preamble to the Constitution stenciled onto the ceiling in his classroom, but we were NOT ALLOWED to look up when taking the annual test he administered whereby we had to memorize and recite said preamble. And you know what? I just tested myself and I got it right! Thank you, Mr. Wilcox!

Previewing Lucky Season 13

Are you eagerly awaiting the next season of the EcoRight Speaks to drop? We are equally excited to bring it to you.

With a goal of releasing the first episode on July 21st, we are currently looking at a roster that kicks off with: Nat Keohane, Executive Director of C2ES; Shuting Pomerleau of American Action Forum; Kimberly Johnson, the CEO of NextGen Energy; and Greg Bertelsen, the CEO of the Climate Leadership Council.

Other episodes this season will feature guests talking about permitting reform, crtical minerals, the CBAM in Europe, and many more climate and clean energy issues of the day.

Tune in on Tuesdays starting July 21st for a fresh round of voices and topics.

Ford forges ahead on EVs

ICYMI, we had a fascinating webinar this week with Ford Motor Company’s Evan Besler. He walked us through how Ford is answering the call for EVs that are more affordable, accessible, and also, fit in with our unique Americaness.

Some highlights:

“We’d rather make it here than import it,” Evan Besler on Ford’s mantra regarding EVs and EV parts/manufacturing.

“Batteries are the Swiss Army Knife of the grid,” our friend Larry Linenschmidt on the importance of battery technology.

And Angela’s favorite finding from the event: Ford includes charger installation with the purchase of one of its electric vehicles. I have to admit, learning this fact made me bump the MACH-E back up toward the top of my list of cars I’m considering.

Intrigued? If you missed it, you can watch the recording.

From sea to shining sea, I wish you a Happy Independence Day!
