Today Politico Magazine announced its 2016 list of 50 “thinkers, doers and visionaries transforming American politics” with eco-right climate leaders Rep. Bob Inglis and Dr. Katharine Hayhoe sharing the honors at number 46.

The magazine honored Hayhoe, an atmospheric scientist, and Inglis, our executive director, for their work to advance the issue of climate change with conservatives “not with tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing self-righteousness but based on the principles of their conservative Christian faith and politics.” In 2009, Hayhoe, who focuses outreach to the evangelical community, wrote the book “A Climate for Change: Global Warming Facts for Faith-Based Decisions.” Inglis promotes the advantages of free enterprise solutions to climate change over the current regulatory approach to reduce carbon emissions.

“We’re making progress,” Inglis said. “Conservatives are going to come around on climate. We’re going to realize that we’re all in this together, and the world is going to celebrate American leadership. This is our generation’s moon shot.”
