Bob Inglis (standing), speaks to a group of twenty-six Young Republicans in Charleston, SC.

Dear EcoRight Supporter,

Here’s hoping the months ahead are as full as the one just ended. In February, I had the opportunity to meet individually in DC with Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA1), and Rep. Erin Houchin (R-IN). On the Senate side, I had the opportunity to meet with staffers to Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK). We’re hopeful that these will accept our invitations for climate-centered field trips in their districts/states.

Here’s hoping, too, that the months ahead hold surprising wins like the one we had with the Young Republican National Federation Spring Meeting in Charleston, SC. Our very skilled and connected Indiana contractor, Kacey Shriner, had negotiated for us to pay $3,000 to host a reception at which I’d get 2 minutes to speak. Three weeks before the event, they canceled on us, saying they needed to be closer to Trump. Undeterred, Kacey went to work inviting delegates to lunch at the hosting hotel. Twenty-six Young Republicans joined us for lunch and a very productive discussion. The lunch cost us $700 and gave me 45 minutes to make the case. I’ll take that deal and count it as a nice win!

May the months ahead be filled with more of the same!

 All the best,

Bob

Community Outreach & Engagement

Breaking New Ground: Our first two-part webinar

For the first time at republicEn, we produced a two-part webinar. Featuring John Cook, founder of the website Skeptical Science, Part 1 delved into the 20-year history behind the scientific consensus on climate change. Part 2 discussed ways in which we can battle the spread of climate misinformation. We had 148 people register to attend.

Access the recordings here or watch Part 1 below.

Podcast

We kicked off season ten of the EcoRight Speaks with former Evangelical Environmental Network CEO, the Reverend Mitch Hescox, a first-time guest on the show (though we have had Jessica Moerman of EEN on twice). An avid fan of carbon pricing, Mitch talks us through the importance of creation care. You can listen to a clip of Mitch’s episode below.

We also featured author Mike Conley (Earth is a Nuclear Planet) and Rewiring America co-founder Ari Matusiak, both first-timers on the show as well.
