In the Fox News Republican undercard debate, Senator Rick Santorum offered this preface to a question on the economy, ostensibly distinguishing himself from a dismissive mention of climate change by Ms. Fiorina from earlier in the debate. Senator Santorum said this: “You want to solve global climate change? Bring 2 million jobs from China back to America where we use one fifth the CO2 emissions when we make things. We can do it all — we can take care of our environment.” [Pardon the paraphrase Mr. Santorum — our ClimateEye editor Chelsea broke her ankle today and we’re not as good at this!]
UPDATE: … In his very next question, Santorum reiterated “Remember this: China produces 5 times more CO2 and other pollutants per dollar of GDP. You want to help the environment? Bring jobs back to America”
