Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, who squeaked out a victory in the Iowa caucus in 2012, addressed a group of 120 mostly college students at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA.

Responding to a question from a student about his reaction to Pope Francis’ message that we must care for the environment in this time of global warming, Santorum said, “I don’t necessarily buy into a lot of the science, if you will, on the issue of climate change.”

Santorum previously said “a lot of things cause climate change” and suggested the Pope should “leave the science to the scientists.”
